MBean JumpStart – The "Secret Handshake" for Oracle Coherence Custom MBeans
SL conducted a 3-part developer webinar series entitled, “MBean JumpStart – The Secret Handshake for Oracle Coherence Custom MBeans.” Each 30-minute webinar was presented live – with live Q&A – twice on their respective day.
Part 1: Introduction to Oracle Coherence Standard Custom MBeans
Part 1 of this series has already taken place. Please watch the recording from this event.
Part 2: Using Oracle Coherence Dynamic Custom MBeans to Reduce Overhead
Part 2 of this series has already taken place. Please watch the recording from this event.
Part 3: Re-using MBeans With the Oracle Coherence Query MBean
Part 3 of this series has already taken place. Please watch the recording from this event.
Oracle Coherence provides the ability to manage and monitor custom MBeans (i.e. application-level MBeans) within its JMX Management and Monitoring framework. However, configuring these custom MBeans can quickly become a landmine leading to huge overhead and poor performance.
Oracle Coherence expert Everett Williams outlined the “secret handshake” of custom MBean configuration. With a few simple yet not-so-obvious rules, Everett shared how to configure both standard and dynamic MBeans to bring in more specific data to lower overhead, how to leverage query MBeans to re-use any MBean that already exists, and how to construct notifications across all three MBean types. Detailed examples and sample code were provided.
